Sam Cohen, an early 30s, half-Jewish New Yorker whose neurotic hangups about his identity, purpose and potential are keeping him perpetually short-of-success in life, learns that his roommate and childhood best friend Maz is actually a Mazzik (or, a Jewish Demon of Minor Inconveniences) whose sole reason to exist is to trip him up at every turn.
